Meeting Every B-day Friday, the KTV Karaoke club is an entertainment club that meets during lunch. Whether the song is a pop song, or Russian, or a silly embrassing song to laugh with friends to, the club is still worth joining.

Want to have plenty of fun, get some exercise, and make a new friend or two? All are welcome to join the Table Tennis Club!

Absolute beginners will learn the basics of how to grip a paddle, stand, and return the ping pong ball. More experienced players will focus on strokes, footwork, and strategy. Your level doesn’t matter! The point of the club is to learn some new skills, meet people not in your classes, and take your mind off of schoolwork for awhile.

A bonus academic benefit: Improving your focus and concentration skills while playing table tennis may even help you study more efficiently.

You can bring a paddle, if you have one. But don’t worry if you don’t own one—we’ll have extra paddles and balls for you to use.

Book of the Month Club

Book of the Month is a place for readers of all levels to come together and share their love of books!!

Here’s how it works:

On the first Wednesday of each month, readers will come together to vote on their favorite book option from about 5 choices, which are based on the top genres voted for at the end of the previous meeting. Once we’ve read through the summaries of each book and given some time for the readers to pick their top choice, the vote will take place and the winning book will be revealed at the end of the meeting. The chosen book will be read individually by each member on their own time throughout the month, with an optional reading log provided to help stay on track.

When the last Wednesday of the month arrives, readers will come together once again after having read the book. This meeting consists of a fun time for discussion of the book, and various activities to go along with it, such as crafts, games, food, etc. Lastly, members will have a few minutes to suggest any genres they’d be interested in seeing for the next month’s book.

This is a low-maintenance club made for anyone interested in reading for fun, and we’d love for you to join us!!

When you think of math, you probably think about hours of boring lectures and homework, the exact opposite of what you might find fun. At Math Club, we try to reverse this perception with exciting yet informative meetings, preparing club members for any math they might encounter in the future.

Our meetings cover the wide spectrum of topics that math has to offer. At Math Club, you can prepare for math competitions like the AMC 10/12 which helps you stand out from the crowd in college admissions, or race against other members in teams with games like Jeopardy! We even host interactive events related to math, such as s’more building Pi Day.

We also participate in competitions such as Berkeley Math Tournament, Stanford Math Tournament, and Mathleague.

At Math Club, we will do algebra. We will do trig. We will even do statistics, but graphing is where we draw the line. 📐

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is a debate oriented simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. Participating in Model UN nurtures negotiation, speaking, and argumentative skills. The point of a council is to find a solution to the problems you will be given as a topic.

Cognitive Science Club

Cognitive Science club aims to explore research and concepts regarding cognitive science (neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, linguistics, artificial intelligence, and anthropology). We will read research papers and do projects, experiments, discussions, and debates in order to understand and apply concepts we're learning. Some projects could involve computer science, data science, experimental design skills, research, etc. We may also invite industry professionals or people in academica to give talks.

Rubik's Cube Club

Have you ever had that one puzzle cube lying in the corner of your room? Maybe you saw someone twist and turn that cube in class. Maybe its your first time hearing a "Rubik's Cube." It is a 3x3x3 puzzle that people often believe is difficult because it was "designed for nerds." In fact, solving a Rubik's cube is not actually difficult (it's a stereotype). They all follow a simple pattern that when understood, makes them just as easy as solving a homework problem. Rubik's cubes are immensely beneficial in cognition, visualization, and solving just about anything (including school topics :) ).

We at the Rubik's Cube Club aim to expose students, regardless of experience, to various Rubik's cubes and teach them the methods/secrets behind time. We sometimes hold mini competitions if club members are competent with solving the cubes. In addition to club activites, we will host volunteer sessions at Senior centers to help Seniors learn about Rubik's cubes (Ask/email Andrew Kim for more information).
